About this site

Welcome to Make Mine Morning! Join me for bird appreciation, the occasional book review, and foods to eat before 10:45 am.

While you won’t find optimized morning routines here, I do write about making time for what matters and why you might want to get up a little earlier. (It’s birds.)

About me

  • I live in the U.S. central time zone.
  • As a mother nearing my mid-40s, I love to get up before the other people in my house, if I can. Not to tackle chores—I just like my own time and space.
  • I love learning about the natural world and sharing what I find with others. I do this through writing, drawing, photography, volunteering with my local forest preserves, and good old-fashioned cornering people at parties.
  • In spring 2025, I joined the Illinois Extension Master Naturalist Program. I’m now a trainee learning from others as I volunteer in educational outreach programs, restoration work, and citizen science projects.
  • Watching birds, especially in the morning, makes me feel alive. ALIVE! I hope to share some of that vivacity with you.
